My Code Your Code

Teaching project at Fachbereich Gestaltung THWS Würzburg. 

In the age of social media, this is an important question. Codes are everywhere. But they didn't just start with Instagram and TikTok. Typography, for example, is nothing more than our “human code,” our writing. Fonts convey more than just the pure content of words; through their form, they also convey emotions, style, and belonging. So there's a code behind the code?

In the “My Code Your Code” project, we searched for projects in the design department at THWS that playfully and openly address the tension between rule-based systems and social issues. We were not only interested in generative or algorithmic typography, but also in how rules and methods can lead to interesting, humorous design solutions.

The medium was freely selectable.
