Karlos Gil – Timefall
In tapestries, sculptures, and video works, Karlos Gil appropriates past and present industrial production methods and combines them with cinematic elements from film to create settings and scenarios for discussing possible futures. In his exhibition project Timefall at the CA2M Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo he examined the relationships between the artificial and the natural, technology and the body, humans and nature, as well as the complexity of urban signs. Drawing on elements of science fiction, he reflects on the fragility of our civilization: apocalyptic landscapes become a stage for a species that has evolved from our reality challenged by the environment. The catalogue presents a comprehensive cross-section of his works. Essays were contributed by Peio Aguirre, Jussi Parikka, Bernardo José de Souza, and Laura Tripaldi.
