Atlas of Spatial Figures
Ignacio FarÃas, Silke Steets, Nikolaus Gansterer (Eds.)
The concept of globalization, as it was discussed until the early 21st century, is undergoing a transformation. While we still live in a globalized world, where markets, technologies, and cultures are tightly interconnected, we are also facing trade wars, global health crises, a decoupling of technological standards, and rampant environmental destruction. Traditional globalization theories can no longer fully capture these changes. Based on empirical research from the Collaborative Research Center "Refiguration of Spaces," this book demonstrates the fruitful interplay of analytical, narrative, and visual modes of thinking, translating theoretical figures into spatial narratives. Three-dimensional Table Configurations by Nikolaus Gansterer allow readers to think visually as they journey through the research themes. Atlas of Spatial Figures proposes new ideas of space that aim to help us grasp the complex realities of our world.
